Thermals

19th April 2019

Misty mountain peaks with a bird soaring above in the Picos de Europa, Spain.

We’d taken our faithful (read: clunky) old Hymer camper on a bit of a baptismal voyage through the Picos de Europa in northern Spain — a region of knife-edge ridges and quietly staggering beauty. The hills nearly did for the van, but she carried us high enough to walk among clouds. This image was from our last day: a vulture catching the thermals above an unearthly landscape that felt far removed from anything as mundane as a postcode.

Of course it wasn’t always misty 🙂
