Walking with the dog and my macro

Took my Canon 100mm macro out with me this morning whilst walking the dog and did a bit of nature snapping. It’s rather fun looking at the world from a macro angle, especially at this time of year when there is so much to look at. I could quite happily have spent hours out there snapping away.
I’m pretty terrible at knowing the names for anything, but this diminutive little, rather unremarkable butterfly, should definitely be called the Walrus Butterfly. What a furry face!

It wasn’t until I got on my knees and looked up at this foxglove that I realised the flowers were open at both ends. They may be poisonous, but I love them to bits.

I haven’t the first idea what this flower is called, but I was struck by the fact that here it looks like it has an angels wings and is being served up over a leaf platter.

The bees just can’t get enough of whatever this flower is – I should set up a hive.

Helpfully entitled ‘bug on flower’ this is indeed a bug on a flower, what bug and what flower remains to be seen, but I liked the matching yellow of the bug and the stamen.

I’m a sucker for bracken, probably because of its asymmetrical uniformity, if that isn’t an oxymoron.

I love this time of year. Everything is so ludicrously green and bursting into life. Here the bracken is just beginning to take over the woods, flourishing in the shade and getting ready to choke the heck out of everything else.
